about the author

Josephine is a poet who recently earned her bachelors degree in Psychology from California State University. She hopes to continue her academic career studying evolutionary psychology, learning more about who we are and where we come from as humans. The world of nature and how people relate to it has been the foundation of Josephine's poetry since she began writing in 2018. Her personal experience with mental illness has fueled her passion to help others understand its darkness. Along with Shadows of the Earth being a part of her own healing, she hopes to bring light to the painful fight of survival against suicide.

Aside from her poetry and academics, Josie is a free-spirited crazy gorl who is always up for a challenge! She loves to snowmobile in Montana, snack on refrigerated watermelon, beat her little sister at billiards, read books by Frans de Waal, talk in a British accent for an unreasonable amount of time, change into pajamas, feel the satisfaction of killing an annoying fly, bake pumpkin bread year-round, win at the Wheel of Fortune slot machine, be outside in non-windy weather, step on fallen crunchy leaves, sleep with the heater on high, and play with her silly little tortoise Sheila, just to name a few!
